Top 10 Reasons Our Clients Are Moving

We have observed a significant trend among many of our clients towards relocating and/or downsizing, and this shift is driven by a variety of compelling reasons. Overall, their decisions have been motivated by a thoughtful approach to how they want to live their best life today.

1.  Maintenance and Upkeep / Less Work

Downsizing to a smaller home and/or a maintenance-free community has helped several of our clients free up time from lawn maintenance, exterior painting and more to allow time for new hobbies, activities, and time with friends//family 👏. 

2.  Empty Nest Syndrome / Children Leaving

We have several clients who have and are finding that their large family homes are no longer necessary now that their children are on their own.  Many have moved to walkable communities around Tampa Bay. 

3.  Lifestyle Changes / Retirement or Semi-Retirement

We’ve had many clients reach out as people approach retirement to look for a more manageable home that suits a relaxed lifestyle.  Several of our clients have moved to communities amenities such as pools, fitness centers, and social activities, which they did not have in their previous neighborhoods.  And they are loving it!  😊 

4.  Weather / Terrain / Freedom

This is a significant trend. With many people working remotely now, they are exploring new areas of the U.S.  Some have moved to the mountains/cooler weather of NC, TN , VA and CO…  And obviously many people are moving to Tampa Bay!  

5.  Cost of Living / Affordability

We have had a few clients reach out to downsize or relocate due to higher flood and homeowner insurance rates, real estate taxes, condo assessments/increasing fees (due to recent changes in condo laws related to the Surfside tragedy). 

6.  Desire for Simplified Living / Minimalism

We have helped many clients who now desire minimalism – smaller, more efficient living spaces with less clutter and fewer possessions.  We recommend companies to assist them with decluttering.  It has been so freeing for them and they don’t miss what they’ve let go of.

 

 

7.  Healthcare and Accessibility / Proximity to Services

Homeowners with current or future health or mobility concerns may desire homes with no stairs, and homes /communities closer to healthcare services and closer amenities.

8.  Environmental Concerns / Sustainability

We have represented environmentally conscious clients that are  who now find it important to have a smaller carbon footprint. Downsizing can offer more sustainable living and  reduce energy consumption and overall resource use.

9.  Real Estate Market Trends / Market Conditions

Higher property values are encouraging some of our clients to sell larger homes and downsize to capture their gain.  Some, due to their situation, are receiving a tax-free profit that they are rolling into financial products that are providing additional income or wealth.  Talk with your CPA to see if this might be an option for you!

10. Proximity to Family or Friends / Relocation

We have had several clients recently relocate to be closer to family (some to be closer to grandchildren or grandparents!) or friends – and also job promotions (yay!).
